Jèrome Fauchèur, France
Jèrome Fauchèur was born in Lille in 1953, the city where Louis Vierne first heard the organ at the age of five on the occasion of his parents taking him to "L'Eglise de Ste Maurice". Vierne later said "I had a very hard time imagining how one man on his own could get from this instrument these mysterious rich sounds, both stormy and calm: it seemed like something out of a fairy-tale. In 1974 Jèrome Fauchèur was awarded the the "Medaille d'Or" for organ and improvisation at the Conservatoire National in Lille, and also won First Prize in the "Tournois du Royaume de la Musique" organised by the French Broadcasting Corporation (ORTF). Having obtained the "Diplome Superieur d'Orgue - highly commended" from the "Institut de Musique Sacree" in Rouen, he continued his studies in Paris, notably with Jean Langlais and Rolande Falcinelli.
