Victor Searle, Japan
University Organist and Chairman of the Organ Department at the University of Japan for more than 30 years (retired 2002), Victor Searle is a 1953 graduate of the University of Oklahoma where he studied with with Mildred Andrews. Mr. Searle went on to study with Dr John Finley Williamson (Choral Music), and Alexander McCurdy (Organ) at Westminster Choir College in 1958.
Mr. Searle studied conducting with Vladimir Bakaleinikof, and made his conducting debut in 1945 with the Pittsburgh Junior Symphony, and has served as Permanent Conductor of DIVERTIMENTO, Japan's only String Orchestra, and the TGOB Glee Club, a 100-voice male Chorus.
Mr. Searle has to his credit more than 700 public appearances: Opera, Organist, Chorus, Bands, TV appearances, and as a Lecture Recitalist. He has been an Interpreter for Bernstein, Copland, Hovhaness, Callas, and Virgil Thompson.
