Organs of Interest - Australia
Brown Residence - Melbourne
Roger Brown lives in Melbourne, Australia, a town in which he takes great pride. He is the owner of a two manual tracker action organ, which he designed and had installed in a music room built specifically for the purpose. His instrument was built by Australian Pipe Organs Pty Ltd of Keysborough, Victoria, Australia, in 1988. The specification was drawn up with the Chorale Preludes, Trio Sonatas and Preludes & Fugues of J.S. Bach in mind. It offers charming and effective contrasts between the 8' flutes, but provides various levels of contrast as stops are added. The provision of contrasting 4' principals allows differing chorus combinations, especially where manuals are coupled, and the instrument provides surprising colour for a tonal scheme without reeds. The voicing is English in style and suits the relatively small room very well.
